Sally Russick from The Studio Sublime is hosting a blog hop. Her challenge was to make something in black and white. Yeay, today is reveal day!
Well it's summer and I missed the anklet blog hop hosted by Kashmira (sniff) so I decided to go ahead and make an anklet anyway. I wear lots of skirts/dresses in the summer and need at least one anklet. I have worn this ankles a few times and love it. I'm going to make more.
I also did some bead embroidery. This piece was inspired by lightening. I wanted something to remind me that LIFE IS FRAGILE. Lightening can strike at any time. Once lightening does strike, it could indicate a door in your life that has closed, never to be reopened.
I appreciate your visit. A gigantic thank you to Sally for being our fearless leader! I can't wait to see what everyone made!
Love the anklet!
ReplyDeleteLiz, I love the texture and design of the bead embroidery and "lightning" want a great muse! I want to run my fingers over the little pillars of beads. And, I have to tell you what a clever idea, the beautiful anklet you stitched! I rarely make or for that matter think to make anklets. Gorgeous beadwork. I missed Kishmira's hop too :(
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for participating!
Wonderful beaded pieces, and so different from each other. I love the texture on that last one!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great design for an anklet! I have been meaning to make one for myself...I love yours!
ReplyDeleteAn anklet...I haven't worn one since I was in my teens...but this one is beautiful. Guess I will have to become retro again....Love both designs!

Love your designs, Liz! I was recently intrigued by some of those twisted bugle beads but passed them up as I was unsure how they would look... now I'm sorry I didn't buy them!
ReplyDeleteI looked at the photos before I read the words. When I saw the embroidery, I thought "shag" and "Lightening!"...I was surprised when I read your text to find I was right, and moved by the meaning of it all.
ReplyDeleteBoth pieces are wonderful! I really like the simplicity of the anklet...it is beautiful! And the shag draws you in to the lightening piece...it looks very tactile.

ReplyDeleteYour anklet is a beauty. Just wish I had an ankle worthy of wearing it. LOL, I agree with the blue and tan idea, especially with Mel as an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteWonderful creations, That little anklet is adorable
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute anklet! I love anklets, I've been wearing the same one for years now. As soon as that first warm weather hits, I pull out my summer dresses and my anklet!

Your ankle bracelet is way cool!
ReplyDeleteThe geometric design of your anklet reminds me of baskets and pottery...I love it.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen that particular kind of bead embroidery. I can tell I have a lot to learn here. Thank you so much! This is a wonderful blog and a great circle.
