Borderline UFO

How long does a piece have to sit around to be an official unfinished object (UFO)?  For some reason I think about a year.  If a piece is less than a year old it's just 'in progress'.  This piece is borderline.  It's been sitting unfinished for somewhere on the order of 6-8 months.  It was all done except for the "white stuff" which I started to find tedious (there is a lot of it, the dimensions inside the frame are 7.25 x 9.5 inches).

It's a combination of bead weaving and bead embroidery.

I'm debating submitting some of my work for membership jurying to the local art association in March.  If I go down that road, this is probably one of the pieces I'll submit.

Regardless of what happens, I'm glad it's finally done!

  2. Wow ~ I zoomed and those are A LOT of white beads to work with, but your persistence was well worth it, because this is a real beauty ~ unique and vivid and full of feeling and oozing with texture! It is good to see you back at it. I tend to think a year untouched is about the time a project becomes a UFO. But after sorting though my stash, I am reconsidering that time frame. Now I think anything over a few months that has the potential to slip into a dark drawer is a UFO...or a quickly saved UFO, anyway.

  3. I don't put timelimits on UFOs. If it is a project that I was focused to, but didn't finish and put it down to focus on something else (which happens often for me) it ends up in the UFO pile. And then it is anyone's guess how long it lives in that pile! This piece is really cool - that 'white stuff' gives it so much flow - LOVE it! you should definitely submit it
