A Time to Stitch FIVE !

Spiral rope was my choice for this ATTS.  My blogging has gone into slow motion after the month-long A-Z April challenge, so I needed something easy and fast - spiral rope was just the thing.  Not managing to actually follow the rules, I ended up making a necklace and some earrings.

Started off with size 8 and 12 seed beads and a few Swarovski crystals to make this rope necklace.

Second came "Spring Fling" slightly crazy looking earrings made from 3 mm lapis lazuli, size 8 pink seed beads and green lentils.

I started a carnelian, freshwater pearl and seed bead piece that isn't finished.  Here is a sample.  I hope it makes it to a full rope necklace, because I kind of like it.

Here is a side-by-side picture to show more clearly how this stitch looks with a variety of beads.

Then got a bit of a second wind and made one more pair of earrings using size 8 seed beads and 5 x 3 mm howlite tube beads.

An enormous thank you to Christine and Therese for continuing the Time To Stitch series.  They are always a ton of fun!  Here is the list.  Can't wait to hop around.

  1. I loooooove that aqua/teal one! My best friend does this stitch and said it's really easy but I've never attempted it.

  2. Spiral rope is a favorite of mine, too -- I really love the use of lentils on the earrings. They are so cheerful! And yes, you should definitely finish that sample into a full, gorgeous necklace!

I love your variations on the spiral rope. My favorite, even though it is not finished, is the Carnelian and FW pearl. Thank you for participating in this round of ATTS. I hope that you are going to join us for ATTS 6 it is going to be a little bit more challenging.

  11. So glad to see your latest projects which are soooo inspiring as always. It's been ages since I stitched beads. Right now I am into working with buttons, beads and wire for stringing, shaping, and repurposing from my stash of vintage pieces and collected beads and all things junky jewelry. I posted about jewelry today too. Come on by and see my Fishy Necklace.

  12. The spiral rope necklace is so elegant - wouldn't it look fantastic with a white sundress...or over black linen!! Your earrings are a delight and I'm really hoping you finish the carnelian piece - gray was the perfect choice to anchor those gorgeous bursts of orange.
