Creatures of the Deep 2

I'm still having fun with beach rocks.
I've now started to branch out and use more than one rock per piece.

A group of jellyfish is called:
   a)  A school
   b)  A smack
   c)  A shoal

(answer is at end of post)

I like to look at all the different things covering the rocks of the intertidal zone.  The intertidal zone is the area underwater during high tide and exposed during low tide.  It's a very harsh environment, as you may imagine.  In the course of a day it is submerged in water, pounded by the waves, and also completely exposed to the air.

A group of jellyfish is called a smack (can also be called a bloom, smuck, swarm, or fluther).

A school is a general name for a group of fish, and a shoal is the name for a group of bass.  Here are a few others:  A battery of barracudas, a cast of crabs, a swarm of eels, a glide of flying fishes, a shiver of sharks and a flotilla of swordfishes.  Whew!

  2. what a lovely post ... and your beadwork just brings such a story to these sea rocks! I absolutely love this last one with all its bubbles on its surface. How cool is that? Now a smack of jellyfish. I wonder who named all these groups ... they must have had so much fun coming up with the names.

  4. You are SO Worth the Wait!!! You know I am deep into this subject matter, but the way you fringe it and layer it but still not getting too complex...you are treating these with brilliance and whimsy and I cannot wait to see more! Sea more.
I guessed smack, only because it sounded cool. Cast of Crabs made me giggle.
