Y is for Yaroshenko

Nikolai Yaroshenko was a Ukranian painter who lived from 1846-1898. He was one of the leading painters of Russian Realism.  I can't quite figure out why I like the portrait of Vladimir Solovyov (who was a Russian philosopher).  Maybe it's the whiskers.

  1. I'm pretty sure I've seen the Sunset painting.

So what are you going to do with your beautiful beaded letters? I was thinking they'd be great stitched together for a child's room or nursery.

    1. Hi JoJo,

I'm pretty darn sick of those silly things, so they will go in a box and out of sight (for now). This was a test to see if I could make a larger piece by assembling multiple smaller ones, because I just couldn't wrap my brain around getting larger any other way. After a suitable recovery period I hope my muse jumps in so we can finish this project.

You are a huge part of A-Z, even thought you're not posting every day. I've enjoyed your blog, and plan to continue to do so!

  2. These are incredible. The Student feels like he is in the room and a real presence, rather than a painting. And the volcano is equally as powerful and real and hot. Vladimir's beard is a mystery as to how it draws one in :-)
Love the Y ~very nice shapes and colors!

  3. I hope, after a while, you will be able to look at your letters in a better light because they are wonderful. This artist is quite nice and the first picture-he looks grumbly:) Love the sunset picture
